South African writer and editor Zukiswa Wanner has returned the Goethe Medal she won in 2020 to the German government in protest of its support for Israel's actions against Palestinians since the Hamas attack on Israel in October, reports Writing Africa.

Tens of thousands of Palestinians, many of them children, have reportedly been killed since Israel launched its new military campaign in Gaza.
