  • Buhle Samuels’ fashion sense comes with playing around with jewel tones and accentuating her figure.
  • Her style inspirations come from JLo and Zendaya.
  • She says find what you love about your body and build outfits around that.

Grace, relatability and sexy style are the first things that come to mind when we think of Buhle Samuels.

The actress continues to turn heads and stir conversations as the ruthless Tshidi on Muvhango, plus her daily fashion sense is a sight to behold.

When she’s not in front of the camera giving her all in projects like her latest romantic comedy film All is Fair in Love or venturing into the world of property, Buhle takes to Mzansi’s streets and flaunts her chic garments that are effortlessly put together.

Describing her style to TRUELOVE, Buhle says, “I think my style is simple, effortless and I accentuate the best parts of myself, what I like about my body. I think that’s the best way I would describe it.”

While one might think it takes a certain level of confidence to pull off the figure-hugging and cut-out pieces that Buhle is known for, she tells us that it’s all about finding something about yourself that you love, whether it's your face beat for the day, and use your wardrobe to help you shine.

We get to know all about Buhle Samuels fun, flirty and fierce style and where it all comes from.

Who are some of your fashion inspirations?

Oh my goodness, I love JLo. I love her style because she's a bit of a curvy lady and she mixes her pieces very nicely. Who else can I think of – okay a young little starlet that I'm loving is Zendaya. [She] has got really nice style, I like her style and lastly … locally, honestly I love Melody [Molale]. I love her style, I love her style. I think it’s so girly and flirty and pretty.

What are some of your favourite items of clothing in your wardrobe right now?

I think post-Covid we all just obsessed with sneakers. I wasn’t a sneaker girl but definitely a beautiful, cute sneaker that I can always dress up and dress down, whether I’m wearing it with athleisure type style like or flared jeans with a cute top, that’s kind of my go-to style and sometimes a well-fitted dress, really.

I love a well-fitted dress, like just a one-piece that you can just put on and throw a jacket on top of  and wear some shoes whether it's flats or heels. Ja, that’s my vibe right now.

Do you have any advice for women, whatever their body type, on being adventurous with their style?

To be honest, nobody really knows what they're doing. We're just all just trying to figure it out, number one. So, there's no right or wrong way to do something. That’s first of all, so when you understand that, then you're able to explore and try things because when you try things, that's the only way you're going to know if it works.

Another thing is, when you wake up in the morning, you need to be able to appreciate, find something in a day that you appreciate. So, if you feel like your face is doing the things, make sure that your styling of your hair is bringing out your face for the day.

If you feel like your décolleté is the star of the day, like your skin is popping, you're loving your shoulders or whatever, have something that speaks to that because days are not the same.

How do you show up and show out in our outfits?

I don't always necessarily feel like I'm always snatched but I find something that kind of has some rouging around the waist, so that it's a little bit more forgiving, and still snatched and I still look great. When I see that, I feel good. When I feel good, then I have the confidence that I need to have.

What are your go-to colours in your wardrobe?

I know there’s plenty colours, but I just love – there’s something about black. I just think black is just such a stunning colour and I think on us girls of colour, whatever shade you are, it just brings out that shade. So, black honestly is my go-to.

But also, I love emerald green, all the jewel tones. So, right now all the emerald greens, velvet, like kind of burgundy colours, your burnt oranges, I’m really feeling that right now.
